All shapes and colours

A beautiful radio interview on ABC Life Matters with Rachael Robertson author of Reaching One Thousand on love, motherhood and autism. It celebrates & highlights the importance of parenting our children for the individuals they are. Regardless of any clinical diagnosis... there are so many amazing children with a huge range of neurodiversity in our society.
Embracing these differences is an important role not just for the parents but for the community at large. Encouraging our children to celebrate the differences in each other would certainly lead to a more tolerant and accepting community that nourishes the individual and makes the role of parenting that much easier.
My admiration goes out to all the parents taking the time to understand their children for the individuals they are. It's not always the easy road but so incredibly rewarding - as seen in this film, The Horse Boy. x

Mel what a beautifully written post... I've just read that three times.
If only more people took that on board.

Oh thank you. It's something I've only recently started to become aware of and I am really grateful for the chance to help Z & his mates establish a community that encourages their differences and allows their individualism to be seen as a positive...for everyone.... if given the right support. xxx
