A couple of years ago I met a gorgeous girl at my local cafe with her 3 week old baby.  At the time Z was about 2 and I still felt helplessly delirious with baby brain.  I marveled at how she was out exercising, looking incredibly bright and cheerful.  She was engaged and totally engaging... no baby brain..... with a 3 week old baby!!! Crazy business.

Move forward a couple of years and that gorgeous girl is about to give birth to her second child but not before developing this amazing app.  Picture Postie.  Picture Postie is a super charged photo printing kiosk on your iPhone!  Forget having to save your photos to a memory stick or DVD and traipse off to Officeworks, you can do it all directly from your phone.  I love it.

It has it's own built in editing system, you can print in lustre or gloss, in various sizes, on canvas, you can even have them framed... and delivered directly to your door.
I'm looking forward to giving this a go on the weekend and catching up on a back load of photos waiting to be printed.

Flickr saves the day xox

My love affair with Instagram has come to a rather abrupt end. After downloading the latest update I've experienced nothing but trouble....continual crashing! I can open the app and peep at everyone's photos but as soon as I try to take a photo myself the app instantly crashes. If I comment it crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail.... crash.
It seems quite timely that Instagram have delivered the latest version and it's oh, so wrong! No doubt you've come across the uproar Instagram insighted earlier this week when it stated in the terms and conditions that they would be able to use peoples content without approval.
It has the stench of Facebook and leaves a soar taste..... The LF sent this article today which helped clear things up but did little to fix my app in real time.

Meanwhile, I've reverted to an old faithful, Flickr. Their iPhone camera app within Flickr is definitely worth a look and their ethos is a whole sweeter than IG..... xox

Among the ever expanding list.... here's what made it to my Gratitude Project this week.

starting the day with a smile.

a soundly sleeping lad at the end of the day. So peaceful. My heart melts every single time.

a night out with the girls, in a beautiful building to support a great cause.

to be home after a long day. Late + tired = Bed is calling. Just waiting for the kettle to boil.

a slow morning. A walk to the cafe. A few friends. A stop at the sandpit, conservatory & pond. Then a slow amble home in time for kinder preparations. A perfect way to spend the morning. I cherish these mornings knowing they really wont last forever.

some time alone...one may even call it a date... with the LF and a little road trip to Red Hill.

What made your list this week?

Things I am thankful for....

kindness & being able to express it. Not only to others but also myself. I opened a book and read a page randomly today and it was about kindness towards oneself...it was the perfect page to be on. A little reminder, on days when I can be super critical of myself, helps.
It was a paragraph from Susannah Conway's book " This i know":.... 'So many of the difficult parts of our lives can be helped with a little kindness, and nowhere is that needed more than the way we view ourselves. If we cannot be kind to ourselves, how can we be kind to anyone else? It's easy to give love to my family and friends, but to then turn around and ridicule my own reflection so heartlessly surely takes the power out of the love I give.'

time to do some upholstery today while Z was off on a play date.

kid friendly entertainment, especially when it's fun for all. Fox & Sui played a crybaby session at RRR... 11.30am!

the beauty of age. These Morton Bay Fig trees are so beautiful. They remind me that just like our own natural beauty, if nurtured, we have the potential for exceptional beauty in old age.

the silly things in life. I was reading an article about feeding children preservative free, organic etc etc and at the bottom they recommended a lady who specialized in 'panty' makeovers... A simple typo... panty/ pantry.... I see how it happened and I am so thankful it did because it totally cracked up.... Childish humor is so underrated.
Anyone for a little panty makeover ....or some organic fruit??

completing jobs! I love the sense of achievement that comes when I complete a job. Especially one that's been on my mind....


I know I said no words for July...but all of these words go into my Gratitude project so it's just as easy to share them here too. I'd love to know what made you grateful last week. x

Time out

Reflection, hibernation, time out.....it's winter and I feel like it's the perfect time to take a step back,  collect my thoughts and reemerge energised for Spring.

You can follow the Gratitude project here and  Project Life here and I'll work on a few interviews over July so there will be plenty to occupy my time .... However, I'll take a whole month off from daily posts.  It will feel rather strange...... and decadent.

Thanks to all of you who contribute here and make it a lovely space to share my photos, occasional ramblings and the small things that make a difference to each day. This little blogging community has bought some amazing people my way.  I feel very grateful for this.  You'll definitely find me nosing around on your blogs during my sabbatical....I couldn't go completely cold turkey now........could I?

Each week I will pop by to post my photos, no words.

Looking up

Some days I feel a little overwhelmed. Today is one of those days.

Thankfully as overwhelming as the sky is.... I find great solace in looking up, taking a breath and remembering my place in this world.

This song struck a cord today, music tends to do that.... on days like these.

Jump in & witness a......

I'm chuffed and very grateful. I've been invited to contribute to Project Life - a photographic journal of being with a number of incredibly inspiring women. It's fun getting to know them through pictures. We're spread far and wide, Canada, Chicago, Montana for starters... others I hope meet along the journey.

Here's to the little everyday miracles. I took this at the top of a playground in St Kilda while racing Z to the top today. Hence he's feeling better....although still not looking flash. It was so funny to be rewarded by this. For jumping in and being childish. If I'd stayed on the ground I'd never have witnessed the 'Miracle'.

Weekend in review

These shots are not all technically part of my gratitude project but they make for a lovely tale of a weekend gone by.
Z has Scarlet fever here so we are lying low and taking it slow. The little man has been a star patient. Humorous and cuddly, even through the worst of it.

The week that was.....Tusen takk

An anniversary...5 years.
It's crazy how time flies on one hand...and well, by the same token, doesn't. I don't feel old enough to have been married for 5 years...some people however may well have been married 20 years at my age.
Time is funny like that. Completely different for everyone.... and every situation.
Flowers, food and inspiring oldies in red lipstick all made my gratitude project this week.
Even on the coldest, wettest, most miserable of days I love how this project seeks all that is beautiful.

Wandering the streets

We spent the weekend in Sydney celebrating a wedding. The wedding was absolutely stunning. A beautiful couple in an incredibly breathtaking setting.
I fell in love with Sydney's East all over again. Autumn definitely is a beautiful time to be perch up above the streets of Surry Hills.
Morning tea at Neilson Park, a Mother's Day stroll around Centenial Park, a visit to Object Gallery to see the Women With Clever Hands exhibition, walking the streets of Paddington and meeting our new nephew for the first time, a lunch date with my cousin here, were amongst some of my favorite things.

There were some smaller but no less enjoyable moments like the chance meeting with a prophet behind the counter at the Salvos store on Crown Street (who gave me some rather sage advice on the Z man), spending a rainy spell bunkered down in the light filled space of Surry Hills library an incredibly beautiful public space, walking the back streets and discovering this, yum cha and of course Chee soon Fitzgerald, so many fabulous places...too many to mention but here's a snippet.

I hope your weekend was a fun exploration of places old and new. Happy belated Mother's Day to all the mums out there too. xox

My week of thankfulness

It's not always easy to hold onto that capacity for awe, pleasure & wonder, least of all ecstasy in the same sameness of the everyday .... but I must say, this humble little Gratitude Project helps me. So much goodness, I often find it hard to choose only one. xx

It's the small things

I can't help it. I do love the whispering sad wizardry of Father John Misty's music (ex Fleet Foxes drummer & solo singer songwriter) ..... and this interview, Father John Misty treads the line between Fear and Fun..., well, it really made me laugh out loud.

Hhmmm, does that make me a sad listening enchantress......... ?
