Picture Postie App

A couple of years ago I met a gorgeous girl at my local cafe with her 3 week old baby.  At the time Z was about 2 and I still felt helplessly delirious with baby brain.  I marveled at how she was out exercising, looking incredibly bright and cheerful.  She was engaged and totally engaging... no baby brain..... with a 3 week old baby!!! Crazy business.

Move forward a couple of years and that gorgeous girl is about to give birth to her second child but not before developing this amazing app.  Picture Postie.  Picture Postie is a super charged photo printing kiosk on your iPhone!  Forget having to save your photos to a memory stick or DVD and traipse off to Officeworks, you can do it all directly from your phone.  I love it.

It has it's own built in editing system, you can print in lustre or gloss, in various sizes, on canvas, you can even have them framed... and delivered directly to your door.
I'm looking forward to giving this a go on the weekend and catching up on a back load of photos waiting to be printed.

Congratulations Jen you really are a clever lass. xx

PS. You can also check them out on Instagram and enter their weekly photo competition!

Vodka & things.

I picked up a big bottle of vodka yesterday to start making another batch of this limoncello for Christmas presents after the success of last year.... my Dad has put in a special request.
I'm also liking the idea of making some of these as stocking fillers.
Saw this gorgeous film, The Intouchables, on the weekend. Such a beautiful feel good French movie.
Just finished reading this, Wild by Cheryl Strayed, and was inspired by Cheryl's tenacity to finish what she started.  Hiking, alone for months on end on a rigorous track.... not sure I could do it?
Have started adding 1 heaped tblsp of coconut oil to my morning smoothies and  the texture and creaminess is sublime....if you add a little organic raw cocoa powder too it tastes like a Nestle Golden Rough!
Enjoying Modern Hepburn.
Adding this is to my reading list. I'm a big fan of Brene Brown.

Enjoy your weekend (a short week for us Melburnians, yippee.) x

Byron for me.

We recently spent 9 incredible days up in Byron Bay. It's been years since I last visited and was so pleased to reacquaint myself with the treasures of this town. I thought I'd share a few links to some of my favorite things (not to brag but to simply share the love). Most of the links here revolve around eating, which we did a lot of in Byron. When we weren't eating we were hanging around on the beaches soaking up the relaxed atmosphere and basking is the beauty that is Byron. If you're heading to the Byron Bay region any time soon here's a little hit list to keep in your back pocket.

Wallpaper picks... not so easy.

135/366: for individual expression. This really made me smile walking through a grey and solemn city street at 5pm yesterday. xox

Now... from fake flowers...... to wallpaper.
My brother is renovating his place and has asked for a list of wallpaper suppliers. There are so many incredible choices of hand printed wallpaper out there these days.
It sends my head into a spin. If I had to pick one which would it be?
Possibly Publisher Textiles Protea.....Ora Kiely's Flower Blossom (inspired by Fran) or Onsself's Anaglypta Math.... actually I give up. I can't choose. I've changed my mind already.

You? Which would you choose?

my little list of wallpaper link love:

Happy Monday

Eat less, chew more.... after an indulgent weekend it seems to resonate today.
You? Is there any one that jumps out?

ohh, these Mod Collective lights are really jumping out at me too. They are so incredibly beautiful. I think I'd have to have one in every colour.

Have a lovely week my lovelies. xx

a little Etsy love

Loving these Etsy products.

1. Vintage Orange Juice Pitcher & Cups from Tree House Club.
2. Vintage Danish Red Enamelware Teapot from Ratty and Catty.
3. Mid Century Broyhill Brasilla Coffee table from Modernismus.

I've realised I have a thing for enamel tea pots... yellow, blue, burnt orange.... there's something so solid and inviting about them. Like they'd really show up for you at that early morning cuppa all shiny and bright....."Good morning! It's going to be a bright one today".....that's what they'd say. x

Thank you.... & now, to the new.

Notice things look a little different around here? It's been fun playing around.
It's also given me a chance to look back on my year and be thankful for all the incredible beauty in my life (and realise how slack I've actually been at uploading to Flickr. Oops, there's a New Years resolution right there).

Here's some summer lovin' linkage to kick start all this newness...... and say thanks to the last 12 months.

Seam Magazine discovered via Floating World.
All the beautifully inspiring content over at Lou, Boo and Shoes ...via Beautifully, Suddenly...equally as stunning.
This fabric just ordered for my latest chair.
I may have posted on a previous list but really....I'm still in love with this photo by nehmzow
This makes me laugh.....
Dreaming of a new quilt to sew... either this, this or this.
Loved the Beci Orpin & Sportsgirl co-lab this Christmas! They made for excellent gifts and stocking fillers.
All the playfulness over at Mamamekko.
The Train to Crazy's homemade car track for boys...perfect for camping holidays!
This for 2012!

and to finish off I couldn't resist sharing this quote from a letter Jessica Mitford wrote to her daughter while she was away at college "Only vegetables and fibbertigibbets go through life with no problems or pain about the future, as you are unfortunately neither, I guess you can expect a few ups and downs."

Life, so simple.

Sharing the love

A little list of lovely people & places to visit:

Daily imprint. I especially enjoyed the interview with Hallie Burton.

Reading about the adventures of the Click Clack Gorilla living in a caravan community in Germany. Marvelling at the size of her van & the fact that she's about to have a baby. Wow!

I know I've listed it before but there's always so much to delight over at habit.

This magic wallet by Mini-eco is about to hit my to-do-list. I love it.

Permablitz Melbourne. What an amazing idea, eating the suburbs one backyard at a time.

Kiuyu. The rescuing makes me bop about the house. It's possibly the sound of the casio that makes me so happy.

Enjoy xox

a late addition... Ben's cold pond water blog. I'm so impressed Ben. Winter in the uk...are you mad?

It's Link Love time again

Source: etsy.com via Chantal on Pinterest

I once made the excuse, back in the day, that I couldn't possibly go out with a guy (who I obviously had no interest in seeing) because it was 'my birthday week'.
Ever since then my good friend Ladle and I love to laugh about it being our birthday week....or sometimes even month... as a way of avoiding uncomfortable social requests.
This possibly isn't funny to anyone but us. I can't tell you the amount of time we've spent laughing about it. Making up ridiculous voices and saying 'oh no, I'm sorry I couldn't possibly, it's my birthday week.'
It still makes me laugh, even just typing it.

This little story isn't really going anywhere....except to say it's 'my birthday week'! So, in honor of all the completely stupid things that make me laugh, here's a list of links I'm loving lately:

the above birthday wreath made by Itz Fitz. It's available over at her Etsy shop.

My Scandinavian Retreat found via Ladle's Pinterest . Boy oh boy, totally dreamy interiors.

this sneak peak over at Design Sponge of Elizabeth Dunker's country house.

Darrah Parker's Slow down: Your September Slices of Life photos.

new blog friends here & here.

Rick Mereki and his Wonderlust series.... phew, he's it's damn hot!

these gorgeous camera bags. I think I'd like one.

the lovely photos over at Closet Visit.

the idea of these little cards making travel, with kids, a total breeze.

and lastly, all the goodness over at A Cup of Jo.

Adios. I'm signing off for the rest of the week....need I say why?!
See you on Monday.
Happy grand final weekend.
Hip, hip hooray. xox

It's Link Love time again

With spring only a day away here's a little link love to farewell Autumn.
Loving:

Photography by Wayne Bremser, Andrea Fazzari and Beautifully, suddenly.

Rohan Anderson's practicality, good sense & absolutely delightful blog whole larder love. (I also love the fact that his spelling is a little on the rusty side ...like mine... and he encourages those who find it frustrating to just look at the pictures. A perfect solution too, the photos are mesmorising :)

These stylish knits.

Spending crazy amounts of time on Pinterest! It's so addictive.

The Toy Society. I have a chick waiting to be stuffed ready for drop off. I'll post details soon.

This raffle by Mosey to aid children in East Africa. What a fantastic idea. A definite win win. It closes today!

The gorgeous work by Paper Donut.

Every interior featured on The Beautiful Soup.

The stylish blog Vintage for Kids. This makes me laugh....imagine hanging your child out of the car window these days. It's priceless.

The idea of spending at least an hour less each day in September online (computer & the sneaky iphone..oh I'll just quickly check my mail... while at the park, cooking dinner, standing in line...) and instead, using the time to create real, tactile things of love.

Bring on Spring xoxo

It's Link Love time again

(photos taken looking towards St Kilda from Williamstown yesterday)

Here's some link love to a few things that have brought colour to my Melbourne winter:

making this super easy bread from Heidi Swanson's 101 Cookbooks blog.

this book, Shibori for Textile Artists, which I borrowed from the library last week.

Hege Greenall-Scholtz's interiors blog.

the idea of our Met system following Stockholm’s lead and turning the citiloop into an exhibition space to feature local artists.

the La maison d'Anna G. blog, found via Ladle's Pinterest Board.

these gorgeous quilts by Alexia Abegg at Craftopia.

the August photos on habit.

and lastly.... everything about Darling Clementine. xox

crafty mags that make me swoon....

My all time favourite textiles mag is Selvedge. There's an online subscription but somehow I don't think I can go past the joy of holding a copy in my hot little hands.

The beloved Frankie. I love the fact that you can now buy this brilliant little mag in the supermarket. Move over Women's Weekly and hooray to the fab Brisbane lady, Louise Bannister! (There's a great clip over at the ABC website from the 2010 Semi-Permanent Design event of Louise talking on 'Frankie Magazine: How To Launch A Successful Mag' which is well worth checking out....Sherry!)

Local Melbourne A5 mag Profile a small print publication (250 print run...so be quick)is interview based, heavy on inspiration both via text and photos...and launches today. Here's to a successful and ever expanding print run guys. Well done.

Craft: transforming traditional craft. A wealth of information. You could honestly get lost over there for HOURS! Be warned.

Paper Runway a hot new magazine where passion meets paper. They feature the latest paper sculptors, artists, illustrators, creators and quick DIY projects. It'll definitely make you want to whip out the craft box and get those scissors clicking.

Not craft, I know, but another mag I love to flip through Green magazine. The St Kilda library has a great collection of back issues too.... although any of you locals may want to wait a few weeks until I return my stash.

Over and out with another quote. This one by Albert Einstein "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction." xox

True Blue Link Love

It's been a while since I've shared some link love. So, here's a few links that make my heart skip a beat.

This beautiful weather forecasting site... found via Mrs Eliot Books.

The idea of making one of these hula hoop rugs in summer.....found via The Crafty Crow.

Faye Toogood's Styling Portfolio.

Elle Moss' Rabbit 'round the world images.

These ideas for an 'indoor', sleek, functional laundry.

The thought of a country life, again.....oh, and here.

Browsing here at the Huset shop.

Jane Foster's very bright etsy store helps me ward off the winter blues.

A little slow off the mark.... but Arcade Fire's The Wilderness Project makes me smile. Clever indeed.

Enjoy xox

The weekend

1. St Kilda palm trees, Botanical Gardens, 2. Meet the taller, leaner...me!, 3. Sun set in the gardens, 4. Bingo @ the retirement village, 5. St Kilda Marina, 6. Washing Monday

Here are some reflections on the weekend just past....& the washing well, that's Washing Monday, which seems to go hand in hand with Crafty Monday. One inspires the other. I know I've blogged about it before but there's something so satisfying about washing hanging on the clothes line for me. Maybe it's the sunshine and a clean, fresh start which really makes me... oh so satisfied. Simple pleasures, really, they fill my heart.

We've just completed week one of the Unravelling course. It's been great getting to know the other Unravellers and checking out their blogs, photographs and generally learning more about them all. 160 of us in total, it's quite a job getting through the long list, plus the discussions and assignments but here are a few blogs I've had a moment to peek at.

There's Susannah Conway's blog, who runs the Unravelling course.
Deea's blog, After-Thought, with it's beautiful portrayal of life.... Deea's mother passed away last week and her ability to create such beauty around incredible heartache is totally inspiring (not to mention, her style & music taste are both exceptional too).
Tracy at Shutterbean.
Lydia at Finding my Querencia.
Boo at Eliza Boo.
Arabella's Gratitude Project, An Open Window.
The list goes on. It's going to take me months to check them all out. So many talents, all with something unique to share. It's such an adventure making new friends scattered all over the world. There are so many perspectives, opinions and shared interests, it's going to make for an interesting journey. I'm loving the ride so far. xox

P.S. The L.F. just sent me a link to this Ben Iver, Calgary song. So Beautiful, I had to share.

The idea of making these wings for Z.

The prospect of ordering this fabric for the second chair we are working on (I just need to convince the L.F.)
