A flaming flurry of flowering gums.

The flowering Eucalyptus trees are incredible this time of year. We counted 5 vibrant variations on our morning walk through the park today. These two were our favorites.

We returned home to find two books had arrived in the mail. When God Was a Rabbit & The Happiness Project. Books which have been on my list for a while. I love my local bookstore but there is something so fun about a book arriving in the post. It takes me back to my childhood and the pure excitement of receiving a letter in the mail. It sure beats bills!

With summer evaporating temporarily and the nights being so cold it's perfect weather for curling up on the couch with a book at night. Now to decide which to read first.

Have you read any great books this summer? Recommendations welcome. I'll add them to the list.

What a gorgeous observation to make on a morning walk.
Parcels of books are such a thrill. Sometimes it is a real suprise as I forget what I ordered. It's just like Christmas.
I have just been given a copy of the new Annabel Langbein cookbook which has me excited.

Aren't the flowering gums gorgeous. They always make me think of snugglepot and cuddlepie when ever I see them. Those beautiful flowers surely could be a little fairies hat or skirt.

As for what I'm reading, The Hospital by the River- Catherine Hamlin... sooo interesting.

I am in the same mode, trying to carve out time to read, craving time curled up on the couch with a book and a cup of tea. Can't wait to find a big comfy armchair for our "study" room. I am reading Mothers Raising Sons at the moment and enjoying it, and leafing through the two Vegan cookbooks we got for Christmas (so many great recipes!) but craving a good novel....any suggestions?

Happy Reading!

Thanks BM. I need to take more time with a few good cookbooks. It would definitely ease my evening meal time preparation.

a book I have picked up time and time again but never read. I'll get to it soon. Thanks Jen for the recommendation.

May Gibbs, don't we love her and the delightful Snugglepot and cuddlepie.

As for the book...I've never heard of it but will be sure to look it up now. Thanks for the tip.
